Webinar: OneNote for free plus new tools. Or, the final way we took a look at is if you have OneNote running, click on your View ribbon, and click the Send to OneNote tool. You can also, if you want to remember a slightly longer keyboard shortcut, use your Windows key + Alt + N, to immediately jump into that. So you can use the Windows key + N, and then type an N instead of clicking on Quick Note in the Send to OneNote window that appears. Quick Notes are a great way of capturing all of those wonderful ideas that you have, without having to search for a pen and paper on your desk. So I have the last Quick Note I took, "Call Mary to ask about the new location," and on my other page, is the information about Jane Smith's email address. In the Office Move Planning notebook that I had created earlier, and, at the very bottom of that list is my Quick Notes. So, where did your Quick Note go? Your Quick Notes are always stored for you at the bottom of the listing of all of your notebooks. I'll click on my new Quick Note, and I'll add a note reminding me that I need to call Mary to ask about the new location. I'll click on my Send to OneNote tool, just like the last time. Watch these videos to learn how to use OneNote 2013. If you're in OneNote, you can always get to the Send to OneNote tool directly off of the View ribbon. Once I'm done jotting down the email address, I can close the Quick Note, and, the great information is, it's been saved for me. It opens up on top of my screen, and, I can quickly jot down Jane Smith's email address. So, I'm just gonna go ahead and press Windows key + N, and right in my Send to OneNote tool, comes up with a choice of a new Quick Note. If we don't have OneNote running, we can create a Quick Note using your Windows key, and the letter N combination. We can open a Quick Note to jot down the email address. Maybe you're on a phone call and someone quickly rattles off their email address. And, if it's a really important note, you can always have it appear on top of any other program you're running at the time. Unlike sticky notes, when you close a Quick Notes, it's automatically saved for you. And they're much better than sticky notes. It's a great way of capturing information on the fly, without taking time to open OneNote. For MS Word 2007/2010/2013: use the equation feature, designed for math, but works okay for chemistry. We've seen how easy it is to create a OneNote notebook, but what if you need to capture information and don't happen to have OneNote running? That's where something called Quick Notes comes to the rescue.
